Get up to speed fast with this 5-part video presentation by Bo Hanson. Benefit from watching an introduction to the DISC model and how valuable it is in sport.  You will understand the four DISC styles (Dominant, Steady, Influence and Conscientious) and most importantly, learn how to incorporate all of this into your sports training and coaching. In this series of short videos, Bo Hanson takes you step-by-step to ensure you have a strong foundation to take you to the next level.

Part 1 – Introducing the DISC Model

This video starts with Bo Hanson introducing the DISC model and its application to sport.  DISC measures behavior by dominance, influence, Steadiness, and Conscientious.  By understanding your athletes based on their behavior, coaches are better able to meet the individual needs of their athletes to achieve improved sporting performance.

Part 2 – Dominant Style of DISC in Sport

In Part 2 Bo Hanson discusses the “D” within the DISC model which represents the Dominant style.  Watch the below video to find out what it means to have a high or low level of “D”, and what situations require an adaptation of “D” in a coaching role.  Bo also discusses how the D style expresses itself in an athlete’s game.

Part 3 – Influence Style of DISC in Sport

Watch the below video for Bo Hanson’s explanation of the Influence Style (the “I” within DISC) in sport. Find out how the Influence style represents your level of extroversion or introversion, how this style manifests itself in coaching, and when it may be appropriate to make adaptations.

Part 4 – Steady Style of DISC in Sport

In Part 4 of this video series, Bo Hanson turns his attention to the “S” style in the DISC model. The Steady Style, is a measure of pace, and this video covers the key things you need to know within sport when working with Steady Style people.  The Steady scale determines whether you are fast or slow paced, whether you are more spontaneous or have a longer fuse. The “perfect profile” for a coach is also examined.

Part 5 – Conscientious Style of DISC in Sport

In this last video in the series, Bo Hanson discusses the Conscientious Style within the DISC model. Find out more about the Conscientious Style and the key things you need to know within sport. If you are a low “C”, you may see rules as something to be broken. High “C”s on the other hand will prefer to follow rules precisely. Find out how an athlete’s level of C is displayed in their playing style, and why coaches can benefit from adapting their level of C.
